Magna Alternative for Solana: Simpler Token Vesting Without Enterprise Onboarding

Magna alternatives for Solana token vesting. Magna is now owned by Kraken's parent. StakePoint offers on-chain vesting without enterprise onboarding.

The Short Answer

StakePoint is the best Magna alternative for Solana-only projects that want to start vesting today without an enterprise onboarding process. Vesting, token locking, LP locking and staking pools sit behind one interface, every schedule is held on-chain in a Program Derived Address, and each one gets a public page anyone can verify.

Magna remains the stronger option for large organisations with compliance, tax withholding and multi-chain requirements. This post covers what Magna actually is, what changed when it was acquired, and when a lighter Solana-native option makes more sense.

Vest Tokens on Solana

What Magna Is

Magna is a token management platform founded in 2022 and backed by Y Combinator's Winter 2022 batch. It automates token distribution across vesting, unlocks, airdrops, grants, custody and staking for projects operating on multiple chains.

It grew into one of the largest vesting platforms in the industry, reaching a peak total value locked of around $60 billion across more than 160 client organisations. Its client list includes Optimism, Berachain, Aptos, Shiba Inu and Tensor.

In February 2026, Magna was acquired by Payward, the parent company of Kraken. It continues to operate as a standalone product under a "Powered by Kraken" banner.

Magna supports Ethereum, Solana, Aptos, Arbitrum, Polygon, Base, Avalanche and other networks, making it one of the broadest multi-chain vesting solutions available.

What Magna Does Well

Enterprise compliance. Tax withholding calculations on token grants, distribution reporting for audit workflows, and management of legal agreements including SAFTs, token warrants and token grants. Nothing on the Solana-native side of the market attempts this.

Complex schedule types. Time-based, back-weighted and milestone-based vesting, aimed at organisations with genuinely complicated grant structures.

Scale. Magna's REST API has been used to generate thousands of vesting contracts programmatically. Tensor used it to create contracts for power users based on trading activity, and Espresso used Magna's claim portal infrastructure for a million-wallet airdrop in early 2026.

Branded claim portals. Recipients claim through an interface carrying the project's branding rather than a third-party platform.

Permissioning. Integration with Squads, Gnosis Safe and other multisig providers, with custom permissioning over on-chain actions.

If your organisation needs any of the above, Magna is built for you and this post is not going to argue otherwise.

Where Magna Is a Poor Fit

It is institutional software. Magna serves roughly 160 client organisations, which for a platform of that TVL indicates a small number of large customers rather than a large number of small ones. Onboarding reflects that. A three person team wanting to vest a founder allocation this afternoon is not the intended customer.

Tokens do not always leave the treasury. Magna supports both on-chain escrow contracts and off-chain schedule management, where tokens remain in the project treasury and are distributed at unlock time.

That second option is worth understanding carefully if you are vesting as a trust signal. Off-chain schedule management means the tokens are still in your wallet. The schedule is administered rather than enforced, and a holder cannot verify on-chain that anything is constrained, because nothing is. It is a perfectly reasonable model for a company managing employee grants with legal agreements behind them. It is not proof of anything to a token holder.

Multi-chain breadth over Solana depth. Magna spreads across eight or more networks. That is the point of the product, and it means Solana-specific behaviour like Token-2022 transfer taxes and reflection mechanics is not the priority it would be for a Solana-only platform.

Ownership has changed. Since February 2026 Magna's roadmap sits inside Payward. That may be positive for institutional customers who value the Kraken association. It is a consideration for teams who chose Magna as an independent product.

The StakePoint Alternative: Solana Token Vesting Without Onboarding

StakePoint is Solana-only and built for projects rather than enterprises.

Every schedule is on-chain. Tokens transfer into a Program Derived Address, an account with no private key, at the moment the schedule is created. There is no off-chain mode. If a schedule exists, the tokens have moved and anyone can verify it.

Permanent by default. Schedules cannot be cancelled by anyone, including StakePoint, unless the creator explicitly enables cancellation at creation. Every schedule publicly displays which type it is, so holders can tell a commitment from an intention without asking.

Public explorer. Every schedule has its own page showing token, amount, beneficiary, cliff, duration, vested amount and claimed amount, viewable without connecting a wallet. Browse them all at stakepoint.app/vesting.

Full Token-2022 support. Including transfer taxes, reflection mechanics and custom extensions, which covers tokens from every major Solana launchpad. Multi-chain platforms typically treat these as partial.

No onboarding. Connect a wallet and create a schedule. No account, no sales call, no subscription tier.

Locking and staking in the same place. Vesting for team allocations, locking for LP and treasury, staking pools for holders. One platform, one explorer for holders to check.

Choosing Between Them

Choose Magna if you are a funded organisation with compliance obligations, need tax withholding on grants, manage SAFTs and token warrants, distribute across several chains, or need programmatic contract creation at a scale where an API is the only sensible approach.

Choose StakePoint if you are Solana-only, want the tokens genuinely on-chain rather than administered, want holders to verify schedules without asking you, are working with Token-2022 tokens, or simply want to create a schedule today without a sales process.

The honest framing is that these platforms are aimed at different companies. Magna serves organisations with legal, finance and compliance functions. StakePoint serves Solana projects that want the on-chain proof without the apparatus around it.

Other Alternatives

Streamflow is the most capable Solana-native option, with milestone and price-based unlocks and bulk CSV creation. Stronger than StakePoint for large recipient lists and conditional unlocks. See our Streamflow comparison.

Jupiter Lock is free and offers fine control over unlock frequency, but has no broader tooling. See our Jupiter Lock alternative post.

Smithii covers token creation alongside vesting, useful if you are launching from scratch. See our Smithii comparison.

Team Finance, owned by TrustSwap, covers 20 or more chains including Solana with an EVM heritage. See our Team Finance alternative post.

Common Questions

What is Magna used for?

Magna is a token management platform handling vesting, unlocks, airdrops, grants, custody and staking for crypto projects, primarily larger organisations operating across multiple chains. It supports both on-chain escrow and off-chain schedule management.

Who owns Magna?

Magna was acquired in February 2026 by Payward, the parent company of Kraken. It continues to operate as a standalone product under a "Powered by Kraken" banner.

Does Magna support Solana?

Yes. Magna supports Solana alongside Ethereum, Aptos, Arbitrum, Polygon, Base and Avalanche. Native Solana staking pool support was added in a Q3 2025 platform update.

What is the best Magna alternative for Solana?

For Solana-only projects wanting on-chain vesting without enterprise onboarding, StakePoint is the closest fit, combining vesting with token locking, LP locking and staking. Streamflow is the better alternative for large recipient lists or conditional unlock logic.

Is Magna suitable for small projects?

Magna is built for organisations with compliance and multi-chain requirements, and its client base of roughly 160 organisations reflects an enterprise model. Smaller Solana projects generally find self-serve platforms faster and better matched to their needs.

What is the difference between on-chain and off-chain vesting?

On-chain vesting transfers tokens into a smart contract account at creation, so the constraint is enforced by code and verifiable by anyone. Off-chain schedule management keeps tokens in the project treasury and distributes them at unlock time, which is administratively convenient but provides no on-chain guarantee to recipients or holders.
